Dear List
It is always interesting for me to read everyones comments especially as I
am realatively new to OH. I have the benefit of working very closely with
one GP who will quite happily pick up the phone and arrange an appointment
for her patient who is siting in her surgery. We have the benefit of
working together for the best of the individual and get all areas covered!
Unfortunately she is the exception.
The conversations seem to be questioning and seeking to improve the working
relationships between GP's and OHP and ocupational health advisers/nurses,
well can I question the relationship between OH nurses/advisers.
Perhaps it is just my perception but many do not want to share information,
experiences or mentorship. Why? For those of us wanting to be valuable ,
professional people this is very difficult. When we often work on our own
the need for experienced input is vital. I must say that I have benfited
greatly from the ideas put forward and the information gained from this
list but I can't have you all in my drawer at work on a day to day basis!!
(or can I?)
I would be interested to know how others of you got through this stage when
you were new.
(Yes I am studying for my degree and I do belong to the local OHN group -
although the input from there is poor and I am going to the RCN conference.)
As always I look forward to your responses
Best regards
Jean
