HI All
Michael, Zoe and some mails direct to me highlight the eclectic range of
backgrounds that potential applicants would have. I have found a
similar issue with the Multimedia Arts MA here - similarly the range of
potential directions within and following the programme is wide.
At John Moores I have restructured the programme to create a 'framework'
programme - i.e. one that remains a taught programme (so not MPhil) and
appears to follow the modular structure (yuck!) that the University
operates under, yet increasingly empowers students to operate
independently within their personal research area. It strikes me that a
similar process could work here....?
I have concerns over the final outcome for a Curating New Media Masters
though - Major curatorial projects could have a life cycle longer than
the usual 12 months (full-time) Masters programme in the UK and almost
certainly fall wider (in terms of where they manifest and duration) than
the traditional constraints placed on Masters projects. We have started
looking at the inputs to the potential programme, it may be a little
early to look to the outputs but....... any suggestions anyone?
steve
p.s. more personally i have gotten very embroiled in the battle between
time for my own practice and running the MA at Liverpool. It is
exciting to have this bubble challenged and informed from outside,
thanks.
