Hi there
I can't keep quiet any longer and did contact the original emailer
directly, but this is a wider opportunity I must take up.
I am currently involved in preparing a new MA programme titled MA
Curating:New Media at Liverpool John Moores University to start in
September 2003. We aim for this to be a collaborative programme and so
will be returning to this list and its members to seek advice and
hopefully support. In fact some of you may have already been approached.
Beryl Graham is correct in her appraisal of the current Masters
provision in this area and it is very exciting to be part of a group
exploring the potential of developing New Media Curating as a
discipline. How we do this depends greatly on the thoughts and
reactions of the New Media Curating community and I would like tp pose a
couple of initial question if I may. How would such an MA find balance
between the multitude of skills and knowledge required to make a
significant contribution to the field? In fact, in what exact terms are
these skills and knowledge to be described? What is the need for such a
programme and how is this defined?
If you are interested or wish to comment on the validity of this course
as a concept then please feel free to email the list or me directly.
I look forward to hearing your views.
Yours
Steve
