Call for submissions:
This is a call for applications for a studentship at Sheffield Hallam
University in researching and developing Interactive Environments. For

We are looking for suitable applicants for a PhD studentship. The 3 year
studentship is funded internally by the Digital Technology Research Centre
(studentship fees paid in full, a maintenance award of £8000 per annum, a
research training support grant of £545 per annum). This is a jointly
directed PhD between Fine Art (School of Cultural Studies, lead school) and
Computing (School of Computing and Management Sciences).
Sheffield Hallam University School of Art and Design is one of the UK's
leading art schools. Rated a 5 in the recent Research Assessment Exercise
(one of only a few such schools in the UK to attain this rating) and also
rated 21/24 in the recent Teaching Quality Assessment, again one of the
highest ratings in the UK.
Submissions should include a completed University application form
(downloadable, see URL listed below), a CV, names and addresses of two
referees, a statement of vision (300 words), a statement of relevant
experience (150 words) and any relevant documentation of work (papers,
CD-ROMs, DVDs, slides, photos, etc) to:

The deadline for applications to arrive at SHU is the 6th of September
2002. Shortlisted applicants will be notified shortly thereafter and
interviews are expected to be held around October 1. The successful
candidate would hopefully start in early October 2002.
