Researcher B £17,624-£26,618 per annum

A Post Doctoral Research Assistant is sought to work on the EU
project "Explosive Eruption Risk and Decision Support for EU Populations
threatened by Volcanoes" - EXPLORIS Contract Number EVR1-CT-2002-40026.
The post will involve:
· fieldwork on four volcanoes Vesuvius, Italy; Teide Tenerife, Sete
Cidades, Azores, and Soufriere, Guadeloupe.
· Integration of field data into a GIS environment.
· Exploring novel techniques for visualization of explosive volcanic
hazards using GIS. Further hazard impact analysis of explosive eruptions
on the surrounding area.
You will be expected to be a car owner/driver and to travel overseas for
fieldwork.
Applicants will possess the following:
· Undergraduate Honours Degree in a relevant discipline to GIS
· PhD in an area associated with GIS
· Knowledge of Earth Sciences/Physical Geography
· Excellent communication and data collection skills
