Dear C.Kelly
I hope that you do not take offence at what i have written
below - it is not intended to cause such a feeling or to
appear to be 'flaming'. You wrote:

If this were true then the name of the list should be
changed to 'natural-disasters', thereby omitting
'disasters'. Please note the 'tag' that precedes the
'reply-to' line:
This is a multidisciplinary discussion group on natural
hazards AND (my emphasis) disasters.
Therefore please remember that not all of us are 'natural
scientists' (geologists etc.) and not all of us work in
natural hazards alone. Our paths probably often cross
because of the arenas in which we work and the shared
discussions that we can have on such lists as this help
develop our perspective of each others 'world', which
(hopefully) adds to our own understanding and experiences
within the (relatively) insular world that we might
otherwise occupy.
Best wishes
Paul Carney
