My feeling, for what it is worth, is that separating out the politics is
rather difficult.

Subject: A disaster is a disaster is a disaster?
To me, the real problem with most of the previous postings about "man-made"
disasters is the references to the politically motivated sites and the
inclusion of proselytizing in the posts.
It is not that I object to discussions of how to organize refugee camps and
the politics that contribute to their existence and their problems; what I
object to is turning this list into a forum for discussing these political
issues. While they contribute to our understanding of disasters, there are
other and better places for their discussion than this list.
I feel that this list would be a better resource if we keep our focus on
dealing with disasters and leave the discussion of the underlying politics
to other, more appropriate, forums.
