Dear Colleague,
The 2002 Multiphoton Processes Gordon Conference website is now online at
www.chemistry.bnl.gov/grc. The site contains information on the program, GRC
application process, venue, poster submission and conference support. We
anticipate ample conference support for students and post-docs. So encourage
your group members to submit a poster and participate at this exciting
meeting! A brief description of the meeting format is listed below.
2002 GORDON CONFERENCE ON MULTIPHOTON PROCESSES
We are pleased to announce the 2002 Gordon Conference on Multiphoton
Processes, which will be held June 30-July 5, 2002 at Tilton School,
Plymouth, NH. This year's conference is the 20th anniversary meeting and
will join researchers working on fundamental aspects of multiphoton
processes in atomic and small molecular systems with those interested in
applications to systems of chemical and physical interest. The Conference
will begin with a Sunday evening Poster Preview followed by the world-class
wine and cheese reception. Scientific sessions are scheduled for the
mornings and evenings only, and afternoons are free for discussions and/or
recreational activities.
For the 2002 conference, the subject areas to be discussed in detail will
include:
* Non-relativistic and relativistic atomic interactions
* Imaging and control of molecular alignment and orientation
* Strong-field adaptive molecular control
* Generation and application of high harmonics
* Attosecond pulse generation and metrology
* Light manipulation
* Future direction in multiphoton processes
Invited speakers for this year's conference includes:
Gerhard Paulus (Max Planck, Germany)
Joe Eberly (Rochester, USA)
Barry Walker (Delaware, USA
S. L. Chin (Laval, Canada)
Richard R. Freeman (UC Davis, USA)
Marc Vrakking (FOM, The Netherlands)
Carl Hayden (Sandia National Lab, USA)
Robert Gordon (U Illinois Chicago, USA)
Albert Stolow (NRC, Canada)
Robert Levis (Wayne State, USA)
Marcus Motzkus (Max Planck, Germany)
Margaret Murnane (JILA, USA)
Jon Marangos (Imperial, England)
Harm Muller (FOM, The Netherlands)
Paul Corkum (NRC, Canada)
Jun Ye (JILA, USA)
Lene Hau (Harvard, USA)
Peter Lambropoulos (Crete, Greece)
The poster session, which serves as a central focus of the conference, will
be organized in June, and the deadline for poster submissions is May 31,
2002. All posters will be up all week in a large venue with refreshments and
a discussion area.
This year, we have left some space in the program for a small number of
shorter presentations by younger scientists, to allow the most recent
developments in this field to be discussed. The presentations will be chosen
from the submitted posters, with the choices being made one month before the
conference.
Conference support will be available for students and young scientists.
More detailed information, including information on registration and
submitting a poster, is available at the conference website:
www.chemistry.bnl.gov/grc, and at the Gordon Research Conference website:
http://www.grc.uri.edu/.
We are looking forward to a great conference and hope to see you in June.
Lou DiMauro (Conference Chair) Steve Pratt (Vice Chair)
