Two PhD positions in Theoretical Chemical Physics are available at the
Institute for Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the TU Munich in
the group of Prof. Wolfgang Domcke. The positions are funded by the
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) for up to four years.
The positions are suited for candidates who are interested in developing
the theoretical tools to describe and simulate new multidimensional
coherent pulse techniques in vibrational spectroscopy. The main focus is
on ultrafast infrared spectroscopy to study structure and dynamics of
biomolecules. The projects will include the development of new pulse
sequences, of simulation algorithms for the calculation of realistic
multidimensional vibrational spectra, and the development of models
describing interesting vibrational systems in peptides, proteins, and
other bio-polymers. Some knowledge in any of the following areas would
be helpful: scientific programming, molecular dynamics simulations,
quantum chemistry, ultrafast or vibrational spectroscopy.
