Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to work for a year on a
project funded by the Wellcome Trust involving a molecular dynamics
simulation of water transport across membranes. Applicants will be expected
to visit the U.S.A. to acquaint themselves with the program (in Java) and
then work on the code at Cambridge in the Physiological Laboratory Cambridge
with Dr. A.E. Hill. The work will involve development of the program which
is already up and running. The proposed starting date is November 2002 (or
later) and may be filled on a part-time basis. Appointment will be on scale
£17,626 to £19,681 pa, pro rata.
Applicants must have experience and expertise in programming. Preference
will be given to those with a knowledge of Java. The successful applicant
would be expected to understand the program and simulation which involves a
certain familiarity with MD, to be able to work on the program alone, and to
exchange material by internet with workers in the United States.
