Two PhD student positions (about 20000 Euro per year) are available at the
Institute for Physical Chemistry, University of Goettingen (Germany).
Both positions are part of the Sonderforschungsbereich (SFB)
357, "Molecular Mechanisms of Unimolecular Processes", a large
collaborative research project funded by the german science foundation
(Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft).
Within an independent project the quantum dynamics of hydrogen bonds in
molecules and molecular clusters are to be investigated in the context of
proton transfer and dissociation processes. The combined experimental and
theoretical ap-proach encompasses high resolution IR-laser molecular beam
spectroscopy as well as modern computer modelling of the dynamical processes
on a molecular level. The project's interdisciplinary character leaves wide
scope for students to put the emphasis on experimental or on theoretical
aspects.
