Dear Colleague
I am contacting you to let you have an update on the above project.
We are currently involved in collecting models of good practice in mental
health promotion initiatives with different black and minority ethnic
communities, and are starting to visit projects to capture information and
expertise about different ways of working. We have had a good response to
our earlier request for people to help with project interviews, but would
be happy to talk to anyone else who is interested in being involved.
Please continue to let us have information about any innovative work that
you know of. We are currently particularly interested to identify mental
health promotion initiatives with refugees and asylum seekers, African and
Caribbean communities, Turkish, Greek or Cypriot communities, and Irish
communities.
I am attaching a draft outline of the different areas to be included in the
resource, and we welcome any feedback you may have about ommissions or
chapter areas where you feel a different emphasis is needed. You will see
that one section will be looking at the evidence of effectiveness for work
with black and minority ethnic communities, and we would appreciate any
information about relevant research that you know of.
We are aiming to circulate a first draft of the resource for consultation
by the end of January 2003, with comments back by the end of February.
Meanwhile, we will keep you updated on progress and look forward to
continue receiving suggestions and input from you.
Best wishes
Mary Tidyman
