NAMHO subscriptions were due to be paid by the end of February.
Unfortunately the invoices were sent out later than usual this year and as a
result (as of today) only 59 out of 82 member organisations have so far paid
up. I will not be chasing the 23 outstanding individually until the end of
this month, but please bear in mind that non-payment may affect your group's
insurance cover.
NAMHO does not have its own insurance cover, in fact I don't believe it ever
did. Several years ago, NAMHO used to pass on insurance money to the BCRA,
who arranged the insurance. Some members are still insured through the BCRA
scheme (paying direct to BCRA) and I understand that some members are
insured through the DCA. For the BCRA insurance to be valid the member
organisation must be a member of an NCA constituent body (I am not aware if
this is also a requirement for DCA insurance). If your organisation is not a
(paid-up) member of a regional caving council or of NAMHO, then the BCRA
insurance is not valid, so you may be going 'mining' uninsured. So check if
you are paid up with your NAMHO representative or Treasurer (or if you are
concerned email me direct - not to the list).
I would like to emphasise again, there is no such thing as 'NAMHO
insurance', but you may need to ensure your group's insurance is valid.
