In reply to Rob Ixer's query.
King Edward is the surface mine facility that was constructed by CSM around 1900. It is now the oldest most complete mine site in Cornwall and is Listed Grade II*. Part of the site, which has been redundant to CSM's needs since 1974 and which includes the mill complex, has been sub-leased from CSM. The tin dressing plant, with its original Californian stamps, has been reconstructed to working order and there is a small museum/interpretation facility./shop etc.. This is open to visitors.
The underground mine that Rob Ixer refers to is Great Condurrow which is a few hundred yards up the hill from King Edward.. This is still used by CSM, though to a lesser extent than in the past. It is hoped to run quality underground visits there some time in the future.
Rob - supervising geologists sounds tough!! Still, it gave you the chance to do some research for your next 'paper'.
