Hello
SEAFIELD COLLIERY PIER/HARBOUR
I am the Regional Archaeologist for Fife. I am considering a proposal to designate Seafiled Colliery (Fife, just south of Kirkcaldy on the north side of the Forth Estuary) as a scheduled ancient monument.
However, I can't find any information about it. I am told that the remains of the harbour represent a late 19th century plan to build a deep water harbour to which coal would be taken by train.
Can anyone shed any light on this structure (I don't think it was finished or ever actually worked) or direct me to any published sources of infomrtion.
Thanks in advance
