As you all probably know, we are starting a new Mines Research Group in
South Gloucestershire.
We have a meeting on Thursday 5 December 2002, at 7.30 pm in Coalpit Heath
Village Hall, the former Miner's Institute. We intend to keep the business
part of the meeting to the minimum amount of time possible so as to allow
time for a talk by Dave Hardwick on Children working in the Coal Mines of
South Gloucestershire. We are also publicising the meeting in the local
press and through local libraries, but please tell anyone you know who may
also be interested.
Our Newsletter no 2 is now available and can be sent to you off line. If you
have any queries or want further information please email me or Dave
Hardwick, another regular contributor to the list.
We would welcome any list members who want to join - no-one has yet paid any
subs, the group is that new!
So don't forget:
CHILDREN IN THE MINES
(An illustrated talk by Dave Hardwick on the children working in the
coalmines of South Gloucestershire in the nineteenth century)
Thursday week at 7.30pm. There will also be an update on the activities of
the SGMRG.
All the best
Roger Gosling
