Hi - yes, I too woke up a few minutes before it (why ? foreshocks ?). In
Matlock, Derbyshire, there were several seconds of rumbling as if a truck
was passing, but no truck. Haven't yet heard what the depth of the tremor
was, but for it to be felt over such a wide area it was probably quite deep.
Although the epicentre is an old mining district, I think this one is
probably not analogous to the series of shocks in central Staffordshire
which I think have been linked to collapse of old coal workings: it's a
genuine 'natural' earthquake.
