I've at last decided to sort out my collection of photographs and have come
across an excellent shot of the Bluefly Colliery Wednesbury Staffordshire,
(now West Midlands). It shows the headgear, engine house and boiler-room
together with wagons, the butty and women sorters (no women ever went
underground in Wednesbury!)known as "Pit Bonk Wenches". It was taken in the
late 19th C. The colliery was situated on the famous 10 yard seam.
If anyone would like a copy in .jpg format, just send ma a mail and I'll
forward a copy on.
