Further to Dave Hardwick's email to the list (repeated below), there is now
available a newsletter (number 1) and a flyer advertising our open day and
the first formal meeting of the new group.
If you would like these emailed to you, please reply to me off-line and I
will send them. The flyer is designed to be eye catching and so we are
hoping that list members will print it out and display in local shops, at
work or in pubs etc where there may be an interest in S Glos mining.
Please circulate this to anyone off list who might be interested
All the best

Subject: South Gloucestershire Mines
Following on from a large amount of recent interest there is an intention to
set up the South Gloucester Mines Research Group. It is hoped this will be
much the same format as some of the longer established groups in shropshire
Peak district north yorkshire etc. i.e. raise public awareness, record and
investigate remains & records, preservation where appropriate etc.
A newsletter has been prepared and the inaugural meeting has been set for
Thursday 3rd Oct 2002 at 7.30pm Miners Institute Coalpit Heath
There is also going to be another openday at Rangeworthy (Oldwood) Colliery
Saturday 14th September 2002 11.00am - 5.00pm
If anyone is interested contact me (David Hardwick [log in to unmask] or
01454 413248)
Please circulate this to anyone off list who might be interested
