Dear Listers.
Ever had 'one of those days'? I was looking around my local
auctioneers today and thought I had found a really great find. Nestling
in amongst a box of religious tracts and old encyclopaedias I found a
foolscap sized book, obviously Victorian, with the title " Wheal Arthur
Cost Book" on the spine. With trembling hands I opened it, only to find
that at some point during it's history that someone had ripped out all
the pages that had been written on, leaving only a volume consisting of
blank pages.
I'm still wondering what the value of the book would have been
if (in both historical and monetary terms) if it had been complete.
If anyone is in the Tavistock area of Devon and is desperate to
acquire this item, it is in Ward and Chowen's sale today, in lot no. 294
(ish.)
