Can anyone comment on this one please?
Recently, whilst on holiday in North Wales, we stayed at a place called
Craig Park on the A547, Meliden (Gallt Melyd) near Prestatyn.
Adjacent to the park is an engine house with a date stone of 1860. Gaining
access to the building reveals a cylinder foundation block that seems a
little on the small side for the size of building.
The top of the filled shaft is still visible, the boiler house completely
gone and few other surface remains are present. There is very little in the
way of spoil adjacent to the site.
Can anyone shed any light on the site, what was being mined, period of
operation and whether there are any illustrations/photographs of the
site/engine about?
