Dear list members,
I hope members won't mind me thinking out loud on the subject of Mining
Journals. These are undoubtedly the most useful source of general
information on mines within the period they cover but does anyone else, like
me, find that undertaking any research in MJs involves a two hour each way
drive to use the nearest complete set - at Truro in my case? In my work as
an investigator at English Heritage, this often makes it impossible to
include MJ documentation when researching a mine, with limited time
resources. Is there an easier source for this information? Has anybody
transcribed any of the MJ into a digital or hard copy format which can be
purchased, or perhaps an index? Is this something the mining history
community should consider promoting?
Just a thought.
