Another mystery item on the Snailbeach inventory (1769)is "capey rope"
(sic). Ivor Brown has suggested it might be a corruption of "cappelled"
rope. If the latter was a term used for a fitting solely on wire ropes then
it would be out of the question. But would a hemp rope not have been capped
("cappy rope")?
We are both scratching our heads - any ideas please?
