The only Blackpool pit I'm aware of is in the Western Daily Press area, but
in the Forest of Dean, Gloucs. The site is at Parkend, o/s ref: SO 64250
08500.
There is also a local tale of many old vehicles stored in an old iron mine
near Mitcheldean. These were supposed to have been left by the Americans
after WW2. I have never been able to substantiate this tale, although a
previous organist at Mitcheldean church assured me that he had seen them.

Subject: Collieries and Cars
There's a piece in today's "Western Daily Press" about a man from Holcombe,
Somerset, who has a large collection of elderly cars and motorcycles which
are kept underground at Blackpool colliery and are reached by a hydraulic
platform which descends the pit shaft.
I've never heard of this pit, and storing cars in an old colliery sounds a
bit impractical to say the least. Does anyone know anything else about this?
