Having dumped the original message on Peter, I have stirred myself, and
can add a little.
In 1896 Plann Colliery, Kilmarnock, was owned by the Plann Fireclay
Company of Crosshouse.
The manager was Alex. Goldie and the undermanager was Wm. Smith.
It employed 19 men underground and 4 on the surface.
It produced coal and fireclay.
There were 2 fatal accidents in January 1890.
a) Robert Currie, miner, aged 45, was killed on the 20th by a fall
of roof.
b) Robt Auld, Bottomer, aged 19, was killed on the 30th by falling
down the shaft.
I have no records of any other fatal accidents.
Any other info, I would be glad to add to my knowledge.
