Hi Adrian
Try:
The Nailsea Coalmines by Margaret Thomas 1996
ISBN 0951774913
Published by HG & MA Thomas, Tudor Cottage, Water Lane, Little Horkesley,
Colchester, CO6 4DG.
Its 52 pages softback, don't have the price, but probably not still on sale.
In November 1999, Weston-super.mare reference library had it in their 'Local
History Research Room'
I don't have the book, but I seem to remember it said that there is still an
engine house standing there somewhere in the Nailsea area. There is
certainly at least one photo of engine houses in that coalfield, although
some may be old photos.
There is also a wealth of info in:
The Nailsea and Clapton coalfields: A report on the conditions of mines and
shafts.
Pub by Woodspring District Council October 1980.
Approx 20 pages, A4 softback.
Again, in November 1999, Weston-super.mare reference library had it in their
'Local History Research Room'
All the best to you and all in SCMC, SMT etc
Roger
PS Do you think you could put a link to NAMHO home page on your list of
interesting mining websites at the end of your emails.
Its at www.namho.org
