New Book
Cumbrian Mining, Ian Tyler, hb 232pp A4, this book is very different from
Ian's previous volumes, it is packed full of information and Black and White
Photos most of which from his personal collection and not previously;y
published. There is a picture of the Hodbarrow Engine House just before
demolition to name but one of many.
There are some 19 different chapters featuring everything from Gunpowder
Mills, Tokens and Tallies, Coal Mine Lighting, Metal Mine Lighting , Mines
Rescue, Stone Mining to Poetry and Graffiti. The book has it all and
although not cheap. Came to me highly recommended and I can endorse this
view,
I particularly like photos of underground scenes in metal mines these are
rarely published. In all well produced book with good quality photography
£25.00 including postage
