not wanting to get into any of the political aspects of the
discussion but going back to the point about nationalization. Liz
King is doing a book on Seghill which caused me to read some of the
correspondence from my Dad who was manager there at nationalization.
If I read the letters and notes right this (his being manager) was in
part because, with nationalization, a lot of the other managers and
undermanagers disappeared - they could have gone to other pits, but
my sense is that they just quit. As the situation settled others
were brought in and he moved on
