Hello! I joined the list yesterday and wanted to introduce myself, but also
to express my interest in the clinical competencies discussced below. I have
worked in a midwife led unit for 13 years, until recently when I joined the
midwifery teaching division at DeMontfort University Leicester. My passion
is very much midwife led care which is the subject of my masters research
and is looking at how midwives use their knowledge to support normal birth,
so I hope this will support my evidence to date

Marion Hunter, of Aukland, did an excellent Masters thesis on the
difference between hospital and birth centre practice and drew from
it a list of of "real midwifery" skills that were used in birth centres.
If Marion is on this list she may wish to put it up. Otherwise I
could. I am publishing a book on birth centres next year in which
she has written a chapter.
