Associate Professor in Midwifery
Faculty of Health, AUT, New Zealand
This joint appointment with Counties Manukau District Health Board
will head the recently established AUT Centre for Midwifery and
Women's Health Research and provide leadership in midwifery
practice development. The successful applicant will be a midwife
recognised for professional leadership and scholarship. The
appointee will also contribute to research development within the
Division of Health Care and conduct research, some teaching, thesis
supervision and clinical staff mentoring/development.
This new position is pivotal to consolidating and enhancing
performance in significant
growth areas. It offers interesting and exciting opportunities at a
time of change and
development. Professor/associate professor appointees are eligible,
along with existing
senior academic staff, for appointment as division heads.
AUT is New Zealand's fastest growing university. The Faculty of
Health is one of the
country's largest health education providers with strong links to
health, disability and related services. It has expanded
considerably in recent years and further growth is anticipated in a
number of areas including population health, health promotion,
mental health, rehabilitation, disability studies, occupation
science, women's health, sports science and recreation.
Emphasis will be given to Maori, Pasifika and migrant health. The
Faculty offers undergraduate degrees in 12 disciplines/specialties
and has over 550 postgraduate students in Masters and doctoral
programmes. From January 2003 the Faculty will be restructured into
four divisions to provide greater focus to teaching and research
and encourage synergies between related professions and disciplines.
