Inaugural seminar series in the new education room at the Museum of the
History of Science.
On Wednesdays at 5, from 24 April to 12 June, there will be a series of
seminars where speakers will build their papers around individual objects,
both from the collection of the Museum of the History of Science and from
elsewhere.
The series opens with:
24 April, Stephen Johnston, 'Mathematical heads and mechanical hands:
reading a 17th-century carpenter's rule'
Subsequent speakers will be: 1 May, Jim Bennett; 8 May, Jessica Ratcliff;
15 May, Alex Marr; 22 May, Willem Hackmann; 29 May, Jon Agar; 5 June, Mark
Steadman; 12 June, Giles Hudson
The Museum is on Broad Street in central Oxford. To get to the seminars, go
through the museum's front gates, down the stone steps to basement level
and through the glass doors.
