I'm hoping someone who reads this list may be able to help me with an
enquiry (please forward this enquiry to anyone you know of who might be able
to help).
I am looking for information about medical education at Glasgow University
during the 1830s. I've read Comrie's (1932) 'History of Scottish Medicine',
which is a little dated (!) and Geyer-Kordesch & Macdonald 'Physicians and
Surgeons in Glasgow: The History of the Royal College of Physicians and
Surgeons in Glasgow, 1599–1858', 1999. The latter is very helpful in some
regards, but doesn't say very much about the social milieu of the students
nor about the content of, for example, the natural history and geology
lectures (I have a fairly good idea of the botanical ones, which were of
course given by WJ Hooker).
Any suggestions would be most welcome. Many thanks.
