“Christian Wolff and the European Enlightenment”

In memory of the 250th anniversary of Christian
Wolff’s death the “Interdisciplinary Centre for
European Enlightenment Studies” of Martin Luther
Universitaet Halle-Wittenberg will hold the first
International Christian Wolff Conference under the
title of “Christian Wolff and the European
Enlightenment”. The conference will consist of
plenary lectures, evening lectures open to the
public, and 17 panels, focussing on Christian
Wolff’s work and its reception in the context of the
European Enlightenment, as well as on its impact on
modern philosophy.
The following panels are proposed:

2. Logic
3. Ontology
4. Psychology
5. Cosmology
6. Theology
7. Ethics
8. Politics
9. Law
10. Mathematics
11. Natural Sciences
12. Aesthetics
13. Poetics
14. Wolff and Scholasticism
15. Wolff and his School in Halle
16. Wolff and the European Academies
17. Wolff’s Biography
1. Call for papers: 1 page proposals for 30 min.
papers should be handed in by 31 December 2002.
Please indicate the panel you want to contribute to
and enclose a curriculum vitae and a list of
publications. Conference languages will be English,
French, and German. You will receive an answer by 31
March 2003.
2. Registration: If you want to participate without
giving a paper, you are asked to register as soon as
possible. You will then receive further information.
