Quatercentenary perspectives
A multidisciplinary conference at the University of Reading
Wednesday 9 - Friday 11 July 2003
Speakers currently include Conrad Russell, Jenny Wormald, John Cramsie,
Alan Cromartie, Susan Doran, Richard Hoyle, Natalie Mears, Mary
Morrissey, David Trim
2003 will see the four-hundredth anniversary of James Stewart's accession
to the English throne. Looking backward from this triumphant high point
towards James's minority and personal government in Scotland, and forward
to his rule as first king of Great Britain, this conference will embrace
both his reigns and all facets of the "Jacobean Renaissance". Proposals
are invited on any aspect of Jacobean government, politics, religion,
literature, art, architecture, or music.
