Just a note to call your attention to the Louis L. Martz Prize for the
Best Essay in Renaissance Studies (see details below). I hope that many of
you will send something in. The deadline is October 31. The winner will
present the paper in New Orleans in March at the same conference where the
Queen Elizabeth I Society will be meeting.
By the way, if you know of junior faculty or graduate students who are
doing good work, encourage them to apply. The organizers welcome work by
younger scholars as well as more established ones, and the refereeing is
blind.

Deadline: October 31, 2002. Length: 5000-6500 words. Areas: Art,
Architecture, History, Literature, Music, Political Theory, Religion,
Science, Women's Studies, and any other field that bears on Renaissance
culture.
Terms: $1000 Award. Essays must not have been published, accepted for
publication, or read previously at an academic conference. Applicants
agree to publish the winning paper in Explorations in Renaissance Culture
and to present it in a special session at Exploring the Renaissance 2003:
An International Conference, hosted in New Orleans by the University of
New Orleans and Tulane University, March 6-8, 2003.
