The new and expanding mass communication programme in the Department of Mass
Communication and Journalism at Univ of Canterbury (New Zealand) requires a
tenured/continuing Lecturer (approximately
equivalent to US Assistant Professor) with energy and initiative to teach at
both undergraduate and postgraduate level and to foster, supervise and
actively engage in research
and publication. The minimum qualification on appointment is the Ph.D. degree
or equivalent. The appointee will be expected to contribute to current
courses relating to mass
communication theory and develop new courses arising from their specialist
area of mass communication. A wide range of specialist areas will be
considered including media
regulation; media structures and institutions; media representation of
difference and diversity; sport and the media; new communication
technologies.
