We are writing to let you know that the subject centres of Art, Design and
Communication and Sociology, Anthropology and Politics were successful in
their bid to LTSN in securing additional funds from HEFCE to launch a
cultural studies learning and teaching project fund and services to the
cultural studies teaching community. This developed from a well attended and
interactive session at the last MeCCSA conference in Loughborough. ADC-LTSN
staff are administering the funds and are scheduled to run a workshop about
project funding at the 2002 MeCCSA conference.
The Cultural Studies Project Fund is now to be shared between three subject
centres, ADC-LTSN (Art, Design and Communication), C-SAP (Sociology,
Anthropology and Politics) and English.
We are inviting applications for projects which would promote effective
learning and teaching activities in cultural studies. We want to encourage
the development and sharing of innovative approaches and to raise awareness
of the importance of evaluating the effectiveness of educational methods.
The field of cultural studies is currently under-represented in pedagogic
activities and the three subject centres are keen to see this begin to be
redressed. This project fund aims to support new projects and to bring into
wider use exemplary methods or materials that have already been developed
for local use.
There is £28,000 available in the coming year for this project fund with
individual projects being awarded £200 - £5,000.
