History and the News
A Masterclass for Film and History Students
Graduate students are invited to take part in a one day seminar organised by
the International Association for Media and History (Iamhist) and the
British Universities Film and Video Council (BUFVC) on writing and
researching on the history of news on film. The workshop will take place on
Monday, 20th January 2003 at the BUFVC's offices in Wells Street, London W1T
3QJ and students working in the field will be asked to give a 10 minute
presentation of their work in progress, and will be able to share their
experiences with established scholars, looking at different approaches and
issues in professional development, such as book reviewing, publication and
job hunting. Participants will include Professor David Culbert of
Louisiana State University, Professor Nicholas Cull of the University of
Leicester, Professor Thomas Doherty of Brandeis University, Professor Daniel
Leab of Seton Hall University and Jerome Kuehl, television producer and
consultant. Students who are interested in attending the workshop should
