DATABASE OFFICER
£ 13,650 pa plus £1,015 pa (Recruitment & Retention Allowance)
The Royal Air Force Museum is Britain's only National Museum dedicated
solely to aviation and the fascinating history of the Royal Air Force. A
vacancy exists for a Database Officer to support the Database & Inventory
Manager in the management of the Museum's Collection Management System (CMS)
as it relates to the Museum's project to compile a computerised database of
its collection ("the Inventory").
You will be a member of a young and energetic team dedicated to working with
the Museum's CMS and the inventory project, duties will include the
day-to-day support, maintenance, repair, development and security of the
Museum's computerised collections management system (CMS).
Applicants will be graduates with practical experience of using databases
and cataloguing procedures, combined with a high level of PC literacy in a
Microsoft Windows and Office environment. Essentially you will have the
ability to work quickly and consistently at computer-based tasks with an
aptitude and willingness to learn about the Museum's CMS along with the
personality to communicate effectively to a range of people on technical
issues. Some experience in a support role and a museum environment would be
an advantage, but is not essential. Comprehensive training will be given in
relation to all aspects of the post.
