Dear List Members,

Here at CMW we are currently contributing to a project called Memoria
(www.memoriaproject.org). The project pursues three main technical and
non-technical objectives:

Project Objectives
* The integration and dissemination of an innovative modular solution
for collections
management and user access, deploying the potential of interactive
multimedia
technology to provide regional museums with an effective and affordable
solution
to make their collections more attractive and user-friendly and to easily
connect
into thematic museum networks;
* Enabling sustainable network services for 'memory institutions'
(i.e. museums), by transferring the successful Application Service Provider
(ASP) model into networks of memory institutions and enabling a new
generation of museum networks based on advanced ICT services;
* Valorising valuable skills in cultural networks and creating the
conditions for memory institutions to market themselves as "knowledge
organisations" through the transfer of advanced
knowledge management techniques that are currently mature in industrial
contexts.

A requirement of the project is to provide a socio-economic assessment of
the two test-beds involved (South-East Wales and The Mugello Museums in
Tuscany) including case studies of similar projects. Therefore, here at CMW
we are looking for UK based case-studies that fulfil all or most of the
following requirements:

1. Examples of collaborations between small regional institutions in
order to promote their cultural heritage resources (Bearing in mind that
data will be required to support the value of such collaborations, e.g.
visitor numbers to the institutions implicated - thus, examples which
already include such analyses would be of great value!).
2. The collaborations should involve either 'technological innovations'
or 'new management strategies'.

I would appreciate any suggestions of case studies that the list members
might consider relevant.

Thanks, Justin Savage - CMW.
