Technical Documentation Published on the Cornucopia Website
In response to recent enquiries from the sector, full documentation of the development of the Cornucopia online database of UK museum collections has now been published at http://www.cornucopia.org.uk/tech.html
From this page, you can find out all about the history of the database and keep up to date on our plans for further development in the coming year. Information provided includes:
- Full documentation and evaluation of the pilot website (launched in 1999)
- Documentation of the technical architecture of the site
- A history of the development of terminologies and search mechanisms for Cornucopia
- Downloadable versions of the Cornucopia data structure and subject terminology
These pages provide an overview of the experiences and challenges in creating an online database of collections descriptions, and will provide valuable source information for anyone involved in a similar project.
