As a key part of the English Heritage Data Services Unit team, you will
participate in European project work and provide advice on the creation and
implementation of standards to internal and external contacts, contribute to
metadata initiatives and also focus on reference data and thesaurus
management. You will have a proven interest in, and aptitude for, all
aspects of data standards and terminology control, and a good understanding
of reference data and thesauri.

Supporting the work of the Supervisors in the standards team of the Data
Services Unit, you will focus on the research and compilation of a metadata
registry for heritage datasets within English Heritage, data quality work
and researching terminology for inclusion in thesauri and relevant control
mechanisms. You will also make a valuable contribution to raising awareness
and the provision of information to internal and external contacts.
With a proven interest in all aspects of data standards and an awareness of
their application, reference data and thesauri, you will have experience of
relevant information systems and providing specialist advice.

For both posts you will possess a good honours degree, post-graduate
qualification in a relevant discipline or at least three years' experience
in a relevant field and a working knowledge of information technology
systems. A full driving licence is essential as some travel will be
required. Training will be provided representing a good opportunity for
applicants interested in gaining experience of work in cultural information
standards. These posts are based at the national Monuments Record Centre in
Swindon and are temporary contracts fro six months.
