The Fitzwilliam Museum is seeking to appoint an art historian with museum
experience to work within the Department of Paintings, Drawings and Prints
at the Fitzwilliam Museum to address the backlog of documentation relating
to the print collection. The post-holder will be expected to process
efficiently a large number of items, covering the broad range of the
collection, and to generate entries on the Museum’s database (partly
accessible online from the Fitzwilliam Museum website:
http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/opac). Experience with entering similar
material on database would be an advantage. Experience in handling prints
and drawings, the ability to identify printmaking and drawing techniques,
and a general familiarity with the literature of printmaking are required.

the first instance. The post may, subject to the availability of funding,
be renewed for a further period or periods.

Research Assistant (Documentation) - Department of Coins & Medals
Unestablished 23 months post
Salary £17,626 to £19,681, Pensionable
The Fitzwilliam Museum is seeking to appoint a graduate in history or
allied subject with practical experience of museum documentation to work
within the Department of Coins and Medals at the Fitzwilliam Museum to
address the backlog of documentation by re-labelling, recording on a
database and digitally photographing sections of the collections. A general
familiarity with the various branches of numismatics and experience in
handling and classifying museum objects, working with databases and digital
photography would be an advantage.

Research Assistant (Documentation) - Department of Antiquities
Unestablished 23 months post
Salary £17,626 to £19,681, Pensionable
The Fitzwilliam Museum is seeking to appoint a graduate with practical
experience of museum documentation to work within the Department of
Antiquities at the Fitzwilliam Museum to address documentation by
preparing, checking and enhancing existing records and transferring
existing metadata to a networked database, where appropriate, attaching
digital images.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an academic knowledge
of one or more areas of the antiquities collection (preferably including
the Ancient Near East or Egypt) and experience in handling and classifying
antiquities. Experience with databases is essential, as are good
keyboarding skills and the ability to work methodically and very
accurately. Some experience of digital photography would be an advantage.
