HEDS Conference 2002: Developing the Digital Collection

The 3rd annual HEDS Conference is now open for bookings.
This is a premier event aimed at anyone who is interested in digitisation
or is working on a digital library project.The conference addresses the
main issues involved in developing digital content for collections, with
the aim of imparting advice that will help projects be more productive and
cost effective.
A series of papers from practitioners and experts in the field will combine
to produce a day that will be lively, interesting and above all useful.
The following topics will be explored:
· Strategic planning and integration of digital collections.
· Automated metadata and XML creation from printed materials
· How digitisation initiatives seed further innovation and partnerships
· Digital Libraries - working in co-operation to develop content and services
· Building the Digital Library - strategies and practical steps
· Model for evaluation and resource deployment in digital library initiatives
Plus HEDS will be presenting the findings of the recent Mellon Foundation
funded study: Exploring Charging Models for Digital Cultural Heritage
