The Institute of Archaeology's Heritage Studies Research Group invites you
to an open presentation by Klas Nordberg of the Department of Electrical
Engineering, Linkvping University, Sweden, of the MATAHARI project, which
is an EU funded project to explore the use of Internet -enabled PDAs
(personal digital assistants) and WAP-enabled mobile phones to provide 'on
the hoof' interpretation of museum displays and of outdoor sites. The
possibility of using such technology can potentially revolutionise
interpretive methods which have either relied on traditional fixed labels
and panels or audio guides.
He will be presenting the results of the project, which developed and
evaluated a demonstration version of this technology.
The presentation will take place in the G6 lecture theatre of the Institute
of Archaeology at 11.00 on Wednesday 6 November. All are welcome. Please
pass this notice on to anyone else you feel may be interested.
