Workshop description:
This one day workshop aims to help libraries in the transition to MARC21.
The MARC21 Format for Bibliographic Data will be examined, with comparison
to UKMARC. Issues that may be of importance in converting to MARC21 will
also be addressed.
Areas to be covered include:
General overview of MARC21
MARC21 format for bibliographic data
Comparison with UKMARC
The workshop will combine presentation and worked examples along with a
chance for hands-on MARC21 cataloguing. By the end of the workshop
participants should feel confidant to catalogue in the MARC21 format. This
workshop will assume a familiarity with AACR2 and the concepts of MARC-based
cataloguing
