JISC are negotiating with Proquest for History Study Centre
(HE) and Proquest Learning History (FE).  These products 
follow the format of the very successful Literature Online 
(LION) and LION for Colleges collections.
We currently have around 40 subscribers to LION and 100 
subscribers to LION for Colleges.

****HISTORY STUDY CENTRE****

History Study Centre is a collection of history resources 
brought together into a single searchable environment. Key 
to the Study Centre are the history Study Units - 
editorially-selected packages of content on historical
themes and events. A typical Study Unit begins with an 
introduction to the topic and includes a range 
of contemporary, primary source documents (such as 
parliamentary papers, newspaper articles and personal 
accounts), biographies of key individuals, journal articles 
and essays, extracts from reference works, images, video
clips and links to related websites.

As well as the Study Units, History Study Centre also 
includes a growing Reference Library, containing (at 
present) almost 30 titles - all of which are fully digitised
and full-text searchable. This summer saw the introduction 
into the service of a picture library (to be followed soon 
by a video library) and the first of the KnowledgeNotes(tm) 
History Guides:
specially commissioned, in-depth introductions to 
historical topics, more of which will be added each month.

In short, the History Study Centre excels in bringing 
together valuable primary source material, with a wealth of 
secondary and related content, all within a reliable 
editorial framework.

Charges for History Study Centre for HE Institutions are 
likely to be as follows:

Band A  £3495
Band C  £3195
Band E  £2795

****PROQUEST LEARNING HISTORY****

Proquest Learning History has been designed to be the most 
authoritative online history resource for curriculum-based 
teaching for the sixth form or Further Education student. 
The publication contains a vast collection of digitised 
materials including newspaper clippings, rare books, 
parliamentary papers, journal articles, video clips, images,
criminal trial records, diaries and a comprehensive 
bookshelf of respected reference titles and
historical journals.

A sample of the likely charges for Proquest Learning 
History to colleges will be as follows:

Band E  £450
Band G  £400
Band J  £300

Charges are per year for 3 years excluding VAT.
