24TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN PARIS
FIRST CIRCULAR AND CALL FOR PAPERS
Melcom International's 24th annual Conference will take place in Paris from
Monday 27 May to Wednesday 29 May 2002. The lecture sessions will be
given in the new building of Bibliothèque Nationale de France, in the 13th
arrondissement of Paris.

There is a call for papers in the following usual categories :
- Acquisition policies and practices
- Manuscript studies and rare material collections
- Cataloguing policies and practices
- Libraries and new technologies
Please send proposed titles of papers in English or French to the secretary
of MELCOM International. As we will not be able this year to hold parallel
sessions, it is to be expected that not all papers will be accepted, so
please send your proposals as soon and as precise as possible.
Melcom International is an open organization, welcoming members from all
fields connected with Middle Eastern librarianship and books. Information
about Melcom international, programmes of past conferences, and circulars
for the oncoming conference are available on the Melcom International
website.
A first programme and more details will be circulated as soon as possible,
but ONLY TO THOSE WHO HAVE STATED THEIR INTEREST, PLEASE BE AWARE OF IT.
Please also be aware that it is much easier and cheaper to send e-mail than
regular mail, so send your ELECTRONIC ADDRESS if you have one when
confirming your interest in receiving the next circulars.
This should be made to the secretary, before end of January 2002.
As usual, all participants travel by their own arrangements. Information
about accommodation and practical details will be given soon. Do not
hesitate to contact us if you need a personnal invitation letter to attend
the conference.

Un appel à communications est lancé pour les domaines suivants :

communication prévue) en anglais ou en français à la secrétaire du Melcom
international. L'organisation des sessions parallèles est impossible cette
année ; le nombre des communications sera donc limité : soyez aussi rapide
et précis que possible.
Le Melcom international est une association ouverte aux personnes
s'intéressant aux bibliothèques et aux livres liés au Moyen-Orient. Toute
information sur l'association, ainsi que les programmes des dernières
conférences se trouvent sur le site internet du Melcom. Toutes les
circulaires présentes et à venir concernant la prochaine conférence seront
disponibles sur ce même site.
Un pré-programme et des détails seront donnés dans les deux prochaines
circulaires, mais CELLES-CI NE SERONT ADRESSÉES QU'À CEUX QUI EN AURONT
MANIFESTÉ LE SOUHAIT : merci de bien le noter et de m'adresser à cet effet
un courrier, de préférence électronique, avant fin janvier 2002. Le
courrier électronique, beaucoup plus rapide et moins cher que le courrier
postal, a notre préférence.
Comme chaque année, voyage et séjour seront à la charge des participants.
Des renseignements sur les hôtels ainsi que d'autres informations pratiques
seront proposées dans la prochaine circulaire. N'hésitez pas à nous
