"Friday afternoon effect" was in the full swing - quite a few
respondents supplied quotes on general drunkenness and debauchery
rather than specifically on addiction..... The favourites seemed to
be Carl Jung and Thomas de Quincey, but between you, you managed to
cover quite a range of culture both high and low.
