Couldn't agree more with John Rule's suggestions in his second
paragraph.

Subject: CHI clinical governance reviews

Here at Nottingham City Hospital we were visited by CHI last year. We
supplied them in advance with fairly substantial packs of Library
information (strategy, statistics, copies of bids, implementation update
etc.) and then got a visit from the entire review team that lasted over an
hour. They showed a clear interest in Libraries and their questions during
the visit were intelligent and perceptive, but we got no more than a few
passing comments in the final report, mainly relating to internet access
(which we offer to all NHS staff and students).
My own impression is that the level of interest in Libraries taken by CHI
visit teams varies greatly depending on the individual reviewers involved.
If CHI genuinely see libraries as having an important role in clinical
governance (I hope they do, and I think the team that visited us did!) then
I would have thought they need a standard checklist (possibly derived from
LINC/Helicon accreditation?) which relects this, in order to bring a degree
of consistency and transparency to the library element of their reviews.
Yours aye,
